Yurdaer Kahraman: “Through technology and innovation, we are transforming shopping malls into vibrant living spaces beyond just retail.”

The 15th AYD Shopping Economy Summit, organized by the Association of Shopping Centers and Investors (AYD), was held in Istanbul with Fiba Commercial Properties (Fiba CP) as the main sponsor.

During the opening speech, Yurdaer Kahraman, CEO and Board Member of Fiba CP, emphasized the company’s innovation-driven vision:

“The digital screen technology we are introducing in our shopping malls enriches the visitor experience by making it more interactive, while also enhancing the perceived value of our malls. In line with our vision of transforming shopping malls into lifestyle hubs, we are determined to combine technology and innovation to create differentiation in the sector and to maintain our leadership position.”

Fiba CP Brings a New Generation Approach to Shopping Malls

With projects in Turkey, Europe, and the Far East covering more than 800,000 m² of leasable space, Fiba CP has become one of the leading commercial real estate investors globally. Its diverse portfolio includes 11 shopping malls, 5 office buildings, 4 residential complexes, 1 hotel, and 2 cinema complexes, positioning Fiba CP as a reference point in the industry.

Commenting on the company’s approach, Kahraman said:

“Our goal is to modernize physical spaces without disrupting operational continuity, transforming our malls into social hubs where people come together, socialize, and enjoy quality time. We are designing dynamic environments where visitors spend more time and want to return again. This transformation is not only about physical modernization but also about redefining processes with our commitment to sustainability and ESG principles.”

Artificial Intelligence and Digital Investments Redefining Visitor Experience

Highlighting digitalization as both a necessity and an opportunity, Kahraman added:

“We are now at a stage where we are taking a significant step towards the technologies of the future, including AI and digitalization. As part of this transformation, we are launching our new AI character and Smart Screen Project that will analyze visitor shopping habits.

These digital screens, already implemented in some of our domestic and international malls, not only enhance the visitor experience with engaging content but also increase the perceived value of our properties. They allow visitors to spend more time in the mall, creating a stronger platform for brand communication while also boosting advertising revenues.

Our investments extend beyond physical structures, encompassing a value-driven approach that meets the expectations of both our visitors and tenants. In line with our vision of turning shopping malls into living spaces, we remain committed to innovation and sector leadership.”
